About Our Jurisdiction

Iowa Rainbow started in 1923 at the Order of Eastern Star Grand Chapter session. At this session, a resolution was adopted to endorse the Order of Rainbow for Girls in Iowa. 

Grace B. Sprecher, then a Worthy Grand Matron, assumed leadership for this new organization. She was appointed Supreme Deputy for the state of Iowa in November 27,1923. On November 16, 1929, Ms. Sprecher was elected membership into the house of gold where held the following offices:

By the time she retired in as Supreme Inspector in 1964, Ms. Sprecher had helped establish a network of state assemblies with a peak membership of 11,000 members.

In 1997, Minnesota Rainbow was started with 3 assemblies and 47 members. Today, Minnesota continues to strive to gain in members and assemblies.
